High School Jazz Band
We are once again practicing every Tuesday & Thursday morning at 7:15 A.M. We have begun the process of deciding what music we will perform at this year's PSU Jazz Festival which will be held on Friday, March 6 in Pittsburg.
5th Grade Band
Each of the 4 - 5th Grade Band classes are still meeting with me 2 days per week, on Monday & Friday or Tuesday & Thursday during 1st period in the morning.
All 5th Grade Band students need to be practicing a minimum of 2 hours per week at home.
7th & 8th Grade Band
We are currently playing through music every day in class that I will choose from for us to play at the Mid America Music Contest at PSU this Spring.
6th Grade Band
We are currently working on pages 16, 17 & 18 in their Essential Elements band books every day in class.
Remember that all 6th Grade Band members are expected to take their instruments & band books home every weekend to practice on what we are working on in class.

Friday, February 6 is also the day that 11 of our high school band students will be spending the morning & afternoon participating in the 1st FSCC Honor Band event. The bus will load here at the band room at 7:15 A.M. They will begin rehearsal at 8:30 A.M in Fort Scott & will perform a concert at 3:00 P.M. in the Ellis Fine Arts Center on the campus of Fort Scott Community College. Lunch will be provided by FSCC. They will return to Girard in time to perform at the Homecoming basketball games that evening.

6th, 7th & 8th Grade Choir
All of the students chosen to perform in the KMEA District Honor program in Chanute did a wonderful job. It was a very good concert. We will now work with Trinity Dye & Toni Pizarro every day that we have class to help them prepare for their participation in the State KCDA Honor Choir in February.
